Does anybody Help the needy

linda55 started this conversation

51 years old female who has lost everything in life that mattered including my son who died several years ago in the marine corp at the age of 22. I lost my job in 2004 after the company closed its doors, I worked there for  over 20 years. It took me over a year to find jobs, I was always over qualified. To me they were looking for somebody younger. Then I took on two part time jobs in 2006 to try and make ends meet, and recently got injured on the 6th of Dec 2006. I have 3 hernerated discs and a nerve impairment, been going to therapy and getting epidural injections.  my employer did not have workmans comp insurance. Had to hire a lawyer but thats a long drawn out procedure.  Recently on June 1, 2007 I had a cervical fusion and doctors still won't let me work.  now its almost the end of august and i'm desperate for alittle help. Curently I have No money to pay bills of any sort.....car payment behind 2 months now, rent due, utilities with shut off notices and scraping up money to pay for gas. I have tries so called agencies to help but they say theres no money or a waiting list.  I have given all my life and now I can't find any open door's. Linda

Modest needs only help those who aren't needy. You must have a job that can pay you rent and excess of $250.00 more each month. And if you can't pay your bills application will be denied. If your rent is $1250.00 you must have that amount and $ 250.00  more from your rent. if you can't pay rent then you don't qualify/

Do you know if employer paid into unemployment? If paid U/E they may have paid into state disability and there may be sufficient cause to allow you to file claim. Have you checked with your states dept. of labor to determine if you could apply for state disability thru some type of uninsured pool? Can't lose for asking.
